Honour for TIN Arts’ Co-Director

Martin Wilson, Co-Director of TIN Arts, has been awarded an MBE – Member of the Order of the British Empire – For services to Dance and to Inclusion in the Performing Arts Sector as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours List.

“I am delighted to have been nominated for an MBE and whilst the honour carries my name, I wish to accept it on behalf of the TIN Arts family and am immensely proud of our shared journey since TIN Arts was founded in 1999.
Our family includes the TIN Arts board, staff team, freelance artists, participants, family members and wider network of friends and partners.
This honour is a great way to celebrate all that we have collectively achieved to date as well as promoting our continued commitment to building a truly inclusive society with arts and culture at the heart of it.
And we are especially proud of TIN Arts’ Durham heritage. TIN is born and bred in County Durham and we cannot think of a better place for us to call our cultural home. The recent Durham2025 bid for the UK’s City of Culture showed our County’s passion and ambition and we are determined to continue the journey alongside our partners of communities, artists and organisations to realise our collective potential.
A special mention must also go to Tess Chaytor, the Artistic Director of TIN Arts; her inspirational leadership and work has been instrumental in making the organisation we have today.”
